# Intro to Quotes

The first step in issuing an insurance policy is to establish a Rate and Quote for what the Customer is looking for. The Boost Platform will issue a Quote for each specific insurance request you make based on risk factors provided by the Customer. Quotes are both an endpoint (`/quotes`) and a core Boost object that provides a container for all relevant information about a specific Customer’s potential insurance.
